The Westwind is Flood’s Cove’s newest addition built with love and appreciation for history, setting and style. The Westwind is located on arguably the most picturesque spot in Flood’s Cove, boasting southern and western views of the sparkling ocean, Muscongus Bay Islands, breathtaking sunsets and the rocky shores of the Maine coast. 

The name Westwind was chosen for this cottage after the 32’ wooden Marconi rig Herreshoff sloop Dr. Everett Flood (Mary & John’s Grandfather) bought circa 1940. Similar to the Defiance being named after the Pinky style fishing boat that Captain Ambrose Simmons, the previous cove owner, used to fish the Grand Banks in the late 1800’s. The name “Westwind” recalls the summers gone by, spent sailing to points unknown throughout Muscongus Bay.

Three Bedroom Cottage By The Sea

There are 3 bedrooms (one on the first floor) that sleeps 6 in two queens, one full and one twin bed. There is an additional overflow queen bed in the cool dry basement (great for teens) as well as washer/dryer and workbench for those Summer inspired art projects. The cottage has a full kitchen, dining room and relaxing family gathering space with cathedral ceilings.

Wraparound Deck

One of the best features of the Westwind is the expansive and private wrap around deck which provides unobstructed breathtaking views of the ocean and beach.  You will be able to relax, read, socialize, take a nap, and so much more while enjoying the summer breezes and warm sunshine of the Maine coast. 

Steps From Beach

If you choose to leave the tranquility of the deck, however, you will only be a few steps away from the beach and water, where you may want to take a swim or explore by kayaks (included) the extensive shore frontage that makes up Flood’s Cove. Come back from your adventures and enjoy the outdoor heated shower.

You will leave the Westwind feeling refreshed, restored and looking forward to your next visit to this magical cove. 

Note:  The Westwind is a NO SMOKING and NO PET cottage, but come with a Wifi wireless network and a private outdoor fire ring with granite bench seating included - perfect for grilling hamburgers or roasting s’mores as the sun sets.
